Behind Closed Doors

What Goes on Behind Closed Doors?A true spiritual man (or woman) of God is who he is behind closed doors.” — Kennith Hagin

Behind closed doors is a person that can hide from the public’s eye. Is your walk what you talk in the open? We may look a certain way in public, but what do we look like when the door closes behind us? What do we look like when we get on the internet in our private corner of the room? Do we talk kindly when no one else is listening? There have been embarrassing things said in our household over the last forty years of marriage.  I have not been the spiritual woman I desire to be behind closed doors.

Proverbs 31:26 says, “She opens her mouth in wisdom, And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”

Sadly, even though no one in public knew what has happened, God knows.

God knows who you are behind closed doors

There was a song sang by Charlie Rich titled ‘Behind Closed Doors.’  It should have been written, “… and someone knows what goes on behind closed doors!”

In reality, you can’t hide.  Don’t worry about the CIA, FBI, or other government agencies that are spying. The Holy Spirit has them beat by a long shot. He knows more than the CIA and FBI. He sees behind your closed doors; secrets of the heart exposed.  God’s unseen ears are listening. God’s unseen eyes are watching.

Because God loves us, He deals with us according to who we are behind closed doors

If you read ‘I Believe; Help my Unbelief,’ Jesus knew what Thomas said about doubt without physically being there. He confronted him a week later.  I said something a while back and knew immediately I shouldn’t have said it! Even if only two people heard me, the Holy Spirit convicted me of it later on.  He has this way of bringing back to mind things we’ve done.  It’s not to condemn us, but to help us grow in Him! I don’t like seeing where I’ve failed, but I’m thankful He loves me enough to correct me!

In conclusion, I desire to be like God at home first, then reflect who I am publicly. People can tell when others are fake.  People can tell when something seems amiss. I pray God help us clean up who we are in secret so we can be openly transparent.  May we be the true spiritual man or woman God wants us to be!
